Weekly Music Thread (June 1st-7th, 2025)

Post by hprara »

Anotha one

What have you been listening to this week?

Talk about whatever music has marked your radar that you feel like talking about this week.

Mainly relistens for me the past few days. I revisited:

Cibo Matto - Stereo Type A

Hadn't listened to this one in a little bit and I think I like it a bit more than I remembered. It's kinda hard to describe this album. It's got a bit of everything. It's fun, bubbly, edgy (less in the modern sense and more in the late 90s sense). Worth checking out if you haven't already. I listened to the Japanese version apparently which has the tracks 'Backseat' and 'Country', the former definitely being a highlight.

The Bloody Beetroots - ROMBORAMA

An entire album that sounds like stuff that would end up on the soundtrack to Jersey Shore. Most of its pretty trashy electro EDM slop but i'd be lying if I didn't think some of these songs didn't go hard as fuck. The cover art is a pretty good warning for what you're getting into. It's not the most graphic thing in the world but i'd figure i'd give a heads up about it.

My only experience with Bloody Beetroots is stumbling upon this remix years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_Db9qI11GY

been listening to a fuck ton of stevie wonder recently, dude makes excellent heartbreak music. last nite I listened to the debut album by a band called Ambrosia and it was super fucking weird, kinda felt like Alan Parsons but wayyyy more psychedelic/disjointed. highly recommend if progressive pop is your bag :ugeek:
