Weekly Music Thread (June 29th-July 5th, 2025)

Missed last week oopsies :P

What have you been listening to this week?

You probably know the drill by now.
Talk about whatever music has marked your radar that you feel like talking about this week.

Honestly, didn't listen to much in the past little bit. Out of curiosity I checked out:

Natasha Bedingfield - Unwritten

They used to play 'These Words' at my old workplace all the time, and honestly I kinda like that song (grew up listening to it on a Much Dance 2006 CD lol) so I decided to check out the album it came from. It's....not great. Not awful. Basically what you'd expect. Singles are pretty good, maybe like 4 tracks overall I'd say "yeah, I'll listen to this". Otherwise, it just kinda sounds like 2000s teen rom-com soundtrack (unsurprisingly).
Also Bizarre from D-12 is here for some reason????

I also revisited Earthling by David Bowie and Absolution by Muse, both of which rule and I have little to say about other than they are great.

Mr Oizo - Moustache (Half a Scissor)

Decided to give this a relisten since it had been a few years since I listened last. I remember not really liking it all that much, and since it isn't on streaming for whatever reason, I never had a good opportunity to get to relisten. Now that I have gotten around to give it another spin, it has grown on me, but only a little. Many of the tracks have interesting sound pallets, but don't bang quite as hard as I would like them to. I've always had this perception of this album being in a weird transitional space between Analog Worms Attack and Lambs Anger, and that still hasn't changed. I can hear several tracks that come close to reaching the same greatness as Lambs Anger, but fall just short. Some highlights from this album include "Stunt", "Nurse Bob", "Latex", and "Half a Scissor".
